Recent travel opportunities I 've taken the opportunity to participate in the Vesalius Trust-sponsored Art and Anatomy Tours over the past few years: to Paris in October, 2001 and then Holland and Belgium in November, 2003. For someone without a strong academic background in art or art history, they were tremendous learning experiences. Enthusiastic, fun-loving and good-natured travel companions also made the trips amazingly enjoyable and worthwhile.
I've also enjoyed the privilege of joining an annual volunteer medical mission to Nicaragua over the past 7 years ... most recently in the village of Nandaime... as a general clinic volunteer ... aiding medical professionals delivering healthcare (medical, dental, optometric, audiology, wheelchairs and pharmacy) to village populations in the southwestern region of that beautiful country. What an eye-opening experience !! It certainly makes one appreciate all that we have and take for granted in our lives.
